JHARKHAND: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has strongly criticized the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress, accusing them of misleading the tribal population on the issue of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Addressing a rally in Jharkhand, Shah stated that the opposition parties were spreading misinformation about the UCC, creating unnecessary fear among tribals, and diverting attention from their governance failures.
Shah assured that the implementation of the UCC would not negatively impact the tribal community or their traditions. He emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains committed to protecting tribal rights and preserving their unique cultural practices. Shah reiterated that the UCC aims to ensure equality and justice for all citizens without interfering with regional or tribal customs.
The Home Minister also pointed to the alleged shortcomings of the JMM-Congress alliance, accusing them of failing to address developmental needs and the aspirations of the tribal population. He highlighted that the BJP’s policies are focused on empowerment and upliftment, contrasting this with what he described as the opportunistic and divisive tactics of the opposition.
Shah’s statements come as the BJP gears up for elections in Jharkhand, aiming to secure the tribal vote by countering the opposition’s narrative and showcasing its development initiatives. The party has promised to bring clarity to the UCC discourse while ensuring that tribal traditions remain untouched.
