NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Wednesday that the Modi government remains committed to a “zero tolerance” policy toward terrorism, with a vision to build a terror-free India.
In a post on X, Shah announced that a two-day anti-terror conference, beginning on Thursday, would enhance coordination among agencies, strengthening India’s security infrastructure. “The Modi government is committed to building a terror-free India with its policy of zero tolerance,” he wrote.
According to an official statement, the conference has become a crucial platform over the years for operational forces, technical, legal, and forensic experts, as well as counter-terrorism agencies, to deliberate on national security issues and emerging threats from terrorism. The conference emphasizes fostering synergies among various stakeholders, creating channels for coordinated action in line with a ‘Whole of the Government’ approach, and providing valuable input for future policy-making.
Discussions will cover important topics such as prosecution strategies, advancements in the legal framework for counter-terrorism, and the sharing of experiences and best practices. Experts will also address challenges and opportunities related to emerging technologies, international legal cooperation, and strategies for dismantling terror networks across India. Attendees will include senior police officers from states and Union Territories, central agency officials, and experts from fields including law, forensics, and technology.
