Agartala, December 21, 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 72nd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Tripura today, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the development of India’s northeastern region. The plenary session, attended by key government officials and representatives from the eight northeastern states, aims to discuss and formulate strategies for boosting infrastructure, education, and economic growth in the region.
During his speech, Shah highlighted the importance of strengthening connectivity, promoting tourism, and improving healthcare and education services to drive economic progress in the northeastern states. He also reiterated the government’s focus on enhancing security and peace in the region, which is crucial for fostering sustainable development.
The NEC is a key body established to coordinate the planning and implementation of development programs in the northeastern states.
