Amaravati ORR Expansion: Centre Approves 140m Land Acquisition After Naidu’s Push

Amaravati, April 2, 2025: The central government has approved expanding the Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR) to 140 meters after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s request. Initially, only 70 meters were sanctioned, but Naidu pushed for a wider acquisition to accommodate future expansions like a 10-lane highway and suburban rail lines.

Following discussions with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Naidu secured approval for the 140-meter-wide acquisition and service roads on both sides. The land acquisition cost, initially estimated at ₹16,310 crores for 70 meters, is now expected to increase. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will soon issue detailed orders.
