Altaf Hussain Warns of Plot to Ignite Ethnic Tensions in Karachi, Urges Unity

London, April 15, 2025: MQM founder Altaf Hussain has warned of a renewed conspiracy aimed at sparking ethnic violence between Pashtun and Mohajir communities in Karachi. Speaking in his 240th online address via TikTok, he pointed to the activities of the so-called “Dumper Mafia” as part of a deliberate attempt to provoke unrest in the city. Hussain claimed the unrest is a continuation of past efforts to destabilize Karachi through ethnic divisions.

Drawing on historical examples such as the 1964 ethnic tensions, the 1985 riots after student Bushra Zaidi’s death, and the 1986 Aligarh Colony massacre, Hussain alleged that state-backed groups have repeatedly exploited ethnic rifts. He urged both communities to remain peaceful and united in order to thwart any attempts to revive communal conflict, emphasizing that Karachi must not fall prey to divisive agendas again.
