Ajit Agarkar Hints at Limited Role for Bumrah in England Test Series

Mumbai, May 24, 2025 – Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has expressed uncertainty regarding pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s full availability for the upcoming five-Test series against England. Speaking to the media, Agarkar stated, “I don’t think he’ll be available for all five Tests,” citing workload management and injury concerns as key factors behind the decision. He emphasized the need to preserve Bumrah’s fitness given the demanding nature of the series and the packed international calendar ahead.

Agarkar added that the team management is in regular consultation with medical staff to monitor Bumrah’s condition closely. He noted that while Bumrah remains a vital part of the Indian bowling attack, a rotation policy may be adopted to ensure his long-term fitness. The selectors are expected to finalize the squad with contingency plans in place, including back-up pace options for the grueling home series against England.
