AI Forecasts Record Grid Demand of 13,347 MW in 2025, Surpassing Previous Highs

Amaravathi, February 11, 2025: According to estimates from the Ministry of Power, this year, grid demand is expected to reach a record high of 13,347 MW. The highest recorded demand so far was 12,652 MW on February 4. The ministry has forecasted that new records will be set in March and April, surpassing this figure, based on artificial intelligence (AI) predictions.

AI-based technologies developed by electricity utilities are now capable of predicting the next day’s electricity demand with 96-98% accuracy. These predictions are based on weather data, holidays, the impact of COVID lockdowns, climate indicators, and seasonal trends over the past 25 years. Based on this data, electricity companies have prepared demand forecasts in time blocks, ensuring that the required power supply will be available, especially during the summer months.
