Mumbai, May 24, 2025 – Chief selector Ajit Agarkar reflected on the significant legacy of senior Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin, acknowledging the void their eventual retirements will leave in Indian cricket. Speaking at a media interaction, Agarkar said, “When guys like these retire, it’s not just about replacing players, it’s about replacing experience, leadership, and match-winning ability.”
Agarkar noted that the team management is already planning for a smooth transition by nurturing young talent to step into leadership and performance roles.
