Visakhapatnam, January 6, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh on January 8 to lay the foundation for key projects, including the establishment of a Railway Zone in Visakhapatnam. He will also inaugurate the NTPC Integrated Green Hydrogen Hub, Bulk Drug Park, and Krishna Patnam Industrial Hub in Anakapalli district. Recently, PM Modi virtually inaugurated the Charlapalli Railway Terminal in Hyderabad, built at ₹413 crores with advanced facilities.
The long-awaited Visakhapatnam Railway Zone is progressing, but some challenges remain. While tenders for the headquarters construction at Mudasarlova have been issued, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is yet to be approved, raising concerns. Additionally, it is unclear whether the Waltair Division will be included in the new zone, as a new DPR including Waltair is under review by the Railway Board. The final decision on the DPR and its implications for the Waltair Division is still pending.
