Bhopal: A private primary school in Madhya Pradesh ‘s Bhopal was sealed days after a computer teacher allegedly raped a three-and-half-year-old child from kindergarten on Friday.
Kasim Rehan, 28, was arrested on Wednesday under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, according to police reports. Rehan, who was referred to as ‘Daddy Uncle’ by the victim, is accused of sexually assaulting a child in a school washroom.
The district authorities initiated the process of sealing the school on Thursday, with steps underway to cancel its MP Board affiliation.
District Education Officer (DEO) NK Ahirwar stated that a notice has been issued to the school, and the cancellation will be decided after due consideration, keeping in mind the future of the students.
Nidhi Saxena, assistant commissioner of police (women’s safety) and head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case, confirmed that the victim’s parents have provided statements.
Additionally, a support person has been assigned to the child, whose statement will be recorded in court.
Rehan’s mobile phone has been sent for forensic analysis, revealing that he had watched pornographic videos shortly before the assault, a source said.
The source further disclosed that Rehan, a member of a motorcycle group, had participated in a candlelight protest earlier this year against the rape of a foreign national in Jharkhand . He had recently divorced his wife.
The victim’s mother reported the incident to the police after noticing injuries on her child and receiving no action from the school.
Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad protested the incident, demanding capital punishment for Rehan.
