Amaravati, January 2, 2025: A 250-metre stretch of land near Children’s Park and Gokul Park in Andhra Pradesh caved in late Wednesday, alarming residents and visitors. Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud cracking sounds before the land collapsed, leaving a deep trench. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the area has been declared off-limits as a safety precaution.
Preliminary investigations suggest soil erosion and underground water seepage as possible causes, with officials also examining the impact of nearby construction activities. The Municipal Corporation and Disaster Response Teams have cordoned off the area and initiated measures to stabilize the ground while conducting a thorough review.
Residents have raised concerns over the lack of preventive measures and demanded a detailed assessment of the region’s geological stability. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area and assured them of steps to ensure safety and prevent further incidents.
