Delhi, December 30, 2024: Delhi is facing a severe cold snap, with temperatures plunging to 10.3°C at Safdarjung and 8.6°C at Palam. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted further drops, with the minimum temperature expected to hover around 9°C and a maximum of approximately 18°C. Dense fog is also forecast to blanket the capital in the coming days, adding to the chill.
To aid those affected by the cold, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board has set up 235 pagoda tents and night shelters across various locations, including AIIMS, Lodhi Road, and beneath the Nizamuddin flyover. These shelters aim to provide relief to the homeless population during the extreme weather conditions.
The IMD has cautioned that these cold conditions are likely to persist, urging residents to take necessary precautions to stay warm. With the ongoing chilly weather, Delhiites are advised to exercise care and stay updated on weather forecasts.
