Massive Fire Hits Bangladesh Secretariat, Key Documents Lost

Dhaka, December 26, 2024: A massive fire erupted at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka earlier today, causing extensive damage to official documents and disrupting administrative operations. The fire broke out on the fourth floor of one of the Secretariat buildings and quickly spread, prompting an urgent evacuation of staff.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and battled the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, though an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause.

Several government offices housed in the affected building have reported significant losses of important records. Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to retrieve and restore damaged documents wherever possible.

No casualties have been reported so far, but the incident has raised concerns about fire safety measures in government facilities. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered a comprehensive review of safety protocols across all administrative buildings to prevent similar incidents in the future.
