Left Parties Demand Amit Shah’s Resignation Over Ambedkar Remarks

New Delhi, December 23, 2024: Left parties have demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah following his controversial remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The political leaders accused Shah of distorting the legacy of Ambedkar, a prominent architect of the Indian Constitution and a key figure in the fight for social justice for Dalits.

The demand came after Shah made statements during a public event that were perceived as disrespectful toward Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to India’s social and political landscape. Left-wing leaders, including those from the CPI(M), CPI, and other allied parties, strongly condemned the remarks, calling them an affront to the ideals of equality and justice upheld by Dr. Ambedkar.

In a joint statement, the Left parties expressed their concern over Shah’s comments, alleging that they were part of a broader attempt to undermine Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of a progressive and inclusive India. They called on the government to apologize and for Amit Shah to step down from his position, citing the gravity of his remarks.
