Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has accused the Congress party of misrepresenting Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent speech, claiming that the party selectively edited a small clip to distort his statements and spread misinformation. Rijiju’s remarks came in response to widespread criticism from opposition leaders who seized on the clip to attack the BJP government.
In a press briefing, Rijiju stated that Congress deliberately picked a brief portion of Shah’s speech, out of context, to create a narrative that suits their political agenda. “Amit Shah spoke at length on several issues, but Congress chose to isolate a small section, distorted it, and made it go viral,” Rijiju said. He condemned the opposition for engaging in “dirty politics” and trying to mislead the public with half-truths.
The controversy stems from a speech made by Amit Shah during a rally where he discussed various national security and socio-political issues. Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, had sharply criticized Shah, accusing him of making inflammatory comments. However, Rijiju insisted that the original context of Shah’s speech was being misrepresented to fuel a baseless narrative against the BJP.
Rijiju further challenged Congress to focus on substantive issues rather than resorting to divisive tactics. He also emphasized the need for responsible political discourse, urging parties to refrain from twisting facts for electoral gain. The BJP has rallied behind Shah, with several party leaders accusing Congress of engaging in a smear campaign to undermine the credibility of the Union government.
The controversy has sparked a political debate, with both sides trading barbs over the alleged distortion of the speech. Political observers are keenly following developments, as the issue could impact the ongoing discourse ahead of upcoming state and national elections.
