DELHI : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing the party of being fundamentally opposed to the ideology of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution. Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks on Ambedkar and social justice, Rahul Gandhi said the BJP’s actions contradict their words, alleging that the ruling party has consistently undermined the values of equality, liberty, and fraternity that Ambedkar stood for.
During a public address, Rahul Gandhi asserted that the BJP’s policies and rhetoric were designed to divide society and marginalize vulnerable communities. “They speak about Ambedkar on stage but act against his principles in reality. Their casteist and divisive agenda is evident in their policies,” Gandhi said, adding that the BJP has done little to uplift Dalits, minorities, and backward classes in the country.
The Congress leader also accused the BJP of using Ambedkar’s name for political gains while ignoring his contributions to social justice. Referring to instances of violence against Dalits and the dilution of key welfare schemes, he said, “The BJP doesn’t believe in Ambedkar’s vision of an inclusive India. Their actions expose their hypocrisy.” He urged citizens to defend the values enshrined in the Constitution against “the BJP’s onslaught.”
This war of words escalated after Amit Shah, during a recent rally, hailed Ambedkar as a pioneer of social justice while crediting the BJP for safeguarding his legacy. Shah’s remarks drew criticism from opposition leaders, who accused the BJP of distorting Ambedkar’s principles for political mileage. Rahul Gandhi’s fiery rebuttal is the latest in a series of Congress-led critiques targeting the BJP’s ideological stance.
