New Delhi, December 17, 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed security forces to strengthen coordination and take decisive action to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026. Speaking at a high-level meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and law enforcement agencies, Shah emphasized the need for a unified approach to tackle the Naxal threat, which continues to disrupt several states across India.
Shah outlined a comprehensive strategy that includes enhanced intelligence sharing, increased operational collaboration between central and state forces, and targeted anti-Naxal operations in areas with significant Maoist presence. He also called for improved infrastructure and development projects in affected regions, which are often cited as breeding grounds for Naxal activities due to socio-economic challenges.
The Home Minister urged the security forces to adopt a more aggressive stance while also focusing on the rehabilitation and reintegration of former Naxal cadres. He assured full government support to the forces involved and stressed that the elimination of Naxalism was a national priority. The government aims to restore peace and stability in these regions by the set deadline of March 2026.
