SIT Launches Investigation into Laddu Adulteration Allegations at Tirupati Temple

Hyderabad, December 14, 2024: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrived at the Tirupati Balaji temple to investigate allegations regarding the alleged adulteration of laddu prasad. The controversy emerged after claims surfaced that animal fat had been used in preparing the sacred offering, a matter of grave concern for devotees of Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple. The SIT was formed following an order from the Supreme Court to ensure a fair and unbiased inquiry into the matter.

The SIT comprises officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Andhra Pradesh Police, and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). They will conduct a detailed examination of the procurement records for ghee used in the laddu preparation, particularly during the tenure of the YSR Congress Party-led government. The investigation is significant as it touches on issues of religious trust and the integrity of temple offerings, which are held sacred by millions.

This investigation has already stirred considerable public concern, especially among devotees, regarding the potential damage to the temple’s reputation and the sanctity of its rituals. The SIT’s findings could have wide-reaching implications, affecting public confidence in the practices surrounding the temple’s offerings.
