Mumbai, December 12, 2024: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) headquarters in Mumbai received a bomb threat via email, written in Russian. The email demanded the resignation of top RBI officials and warned of an explosion if the demands were not met. This incident marks the second such threat targeting the RBI in a month, with a similar threat in November later confirmed to be a hoax.
The Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation, registering a case at the Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg (MRA Marg) police station. Security at the RBI headquarters has been significantly increased as authorities work to trace the origin of the email. The situation has raised concerns about the safety of key national institutions.
This incident is part of a worrying trend of bomb threats across the country, including those targeting schools and airlines. While many of these threats turn out to be hoaxes, they have caused widespread disruptions and highlighted the need for stringent measures to prevent such occurrences.
