Heavy Rains Forecast for Andhra Pradesh Over Next Two Days

Vijayawada, December 11, 2024: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rains in parts of Andhra Pradesh over the next two days. A low-pressure area in the southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to bring isolated heavy rainfall, especially in south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. This system, which became well-marked on Tuesday, is likely to move west-northwestward toward the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts in the coming 24 hours.

The state government has alerted district collectors and other officials in the affected regions to take necessary precautions in light of the expected rainfall. Authorities are preparing for potential disruptions caused by the downpours, particularly in coastal and interior areas.

In response to the heavy rains, the Agriculture Department has advised farmers to avoid harvesting crops during the downpours. The precautionary measures aim to mitigate the risk of crop damage and protect agricultural activities during this weather event.
