New Delhi, December 10, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound grief over the demise of former Karnataka Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader S.M. Krishna. In his condolence message, Modi described Krishna as a “remarkable leader” who played a pivotal role in shaping modern Karnataka and elevating Bengaluru as a global IT hub.
Taking to social media, the Prime Minister wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of S.M. Krishna Ji. His vision, administrative acumen, and dedication to public service transformed Karnataka and made a lasting impact on the nation. He was a remarkable leader, a visionary statesman, and a kind soul. My thoughts are with his family and admirers in this hour of grief.”
Modi highlighted Krishna’s contributions as India’s External Affairs Minister, noting his efforts in strengthening India’s diplomatic ties globally. He also acknowledged Krishna’s legacy as a transformative leader who modernized Karnataka’s urban and rural infrastructure during his tenure as Chief Minister from 1999 to 2004.
