    Veteran Politician and Former Karnataka CM S.M. Krishna Passes Away at 92

    Bengaluru, December 10, 2024: Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna, passed away on Sunday after a prolonged illness. He was 92. Known for his contributions to Karnataka’s development and his long-standing political career, S.M. Krishna was a towering figure in Indian politics.

    Born on May 1, 1932, S.M. Krishna served as Karnataka’s Chief Minister from 1999 to 2004. His tenure is credited with laying the foundation for the state’s transformation into an IT hub. A veteran leader, he also served as India’s External Affairs Minister from 2009 to 2012 and held several other significant portfolios during his career, including Governor of Maharashtra.
