Singh’s remarks were made in response to comments attributed to Soros, who has been critical of India’s current government and has expressed support for those opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.
Giriraj Singh, a staunch supporter of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accused Rahul Gandhi of aligning with foreign entities that have been critical of India’s policies. The Union Minister implied that the Congress leader’s stance was detrimental to the country’s sovereignty and linked it to the ongoing ‘tukde tukde’ rhetoric — a term used by the BJP to criticize individuals allegedly advocating for the fragmentation of the nation.
The controversy erupted after Soros, in an international forum, made statements seemingly supporting opposition leaders in India and criticizing the government’s actions.
