New Delhi, December 7, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his commitment to enhancing connectivity across the country after the Union Cabinet approved the Rithala-Kundli corridor under the fourth phase of the Delhi Metro. The approval marks a significant step towards expanding the national capital’s metro network, which aims to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the overall transportation infrastructure in the region.
The Rithala-Kundli corridor, part of the Delhi Metro’s Phase IV expansion, will span approximately 30 kilometers, connecting the northern and north-western parts of Delhi with its suburbs. This new corridor is expected to significantly ease commuting for residents of the capital and surrounding areas, providing a faster and more reliable mode of transportation.
Speaking after the cabinet’s decision, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure to promote sustainable urban growth. He highlighted the government’s vision of strengthening connectivity as a means to foster economic development and enhance the quality of life for citizens. The project is part of a broader push to modernize India’s urban transit systems and reduce reliance on private vehicles.
The Rithala-Kundli corridor is expected to be completed in the coming years, with construction and design work already underway. It is expected to serve hundreds of thousands of commuters once operational, providing them with a seamless travel experience while contributing to the country’s environmental sustainability goals.
