Amaravati, December 3, 2024 — The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet meeting held today focused on a range of significant decisions. The Cabinet approved the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in tribal areas, aligning with the state’s ongoing efforts to improve housing infrastructure. Discussions also led to the approval of the Integrated Tourism Policy 2024-29, which is expected to boost the tourism industry in the state, along with amendments to the 2024-29 Sports Policy.
The Cabinet also passed a resolution to observe the death anniversary of Potti Sreeramulu as a day of self-sacrifice on December 15. The meeting also approved the amendments to the Ayurvedic and Homeopathy Medical Practitioners Registration Act to enhance the regulation and governance in the medical sector. Furthermore, the AP Textile and Garment Policy and the AP Maritime Policy received Cabinet approval.
In addition to policy changes, the issue of delayed implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission was also addressed. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow pace of the mission, criticizing the bureaucratic delays that had prevented its optimal use. He emphasized that the project, if executed in mission mode, could deliver exceptional results. Naidu urged the officials to focus on the successful execution of water projects, particularly in Pulivendula, Uddanam, and Don, ensuring timely access to drinking water.
The Cabinet also discussed steps to curb corruption and illegal activities such as liquor and sand mafias, with Naidu claiming that the government had successfully countered such activities. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts to address ration and land-grabbing issues through dedicated legislation. Naidu ordered a comprehensive report on the actions taken during the first six months of the government’s tenure.
