
Visakhapatnam, November 30, 2024: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema as Cyclone Fengal intensifies over the southwest Bay of Bengal. Districts such as Chittoor, Nellore, and Tirupati are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rains, along with gale-force winds reaching 90 kmph.
A red alert has been declared, as the cyclone is predicted to make landfall between Karaikal and Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu. The cyclone is expected to disrupt marine activities, with rough seas and fishermen advised to avoid the coast until Sunday.
Local authorities are preparing for flooding and infrastructure damage, urging residents to remain alert and follow safety guidelines.
