New Delhi, November 27, 2024 – The much-awaited Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is set to be operational by January 2025. This major infrastructure project will significantly reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun, cutting it from the current six hours to just 2.5 hours. The 213-kilometer route bypasses the old highway, avoiding towns like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Roorkee, and instead connects through Baghpat and Saharanpur.
The expressway is designed to facilitate high-speed travel, with a minimum speed of 100 km/h. This will provide a much faster and more efficient route for commuters between the two cities. Along the expressway, travelers will find wayside amenities every 25 to 30 kilometers, ensuring convenience and safety during the journey.
One of the standout features of the expressway is the elevated wildlife corridor that passes through Rajaji National Park and the Shivalik Reserve Forest. This eco-friendly initiative aims to reduce the environmental impact of the expressway, while also helping to preserve wildlife by providing a safe passage for animals. The new route is expected to save up to 15-20 minutes of travel time, further improving the efficiency of the journey.
With its expected opening in early 2025, the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway promises to be a game-changer, not only in terms of travel time but also in enhancing the overall travel experience for people commuting between Delhi and Dehradun.
