NEW DELHI: In the Winter Session of Parliament, Lok Sabha members will now have the option to mark their attendance digitally using electronic tabs and digital pens. This initiative, aimed at reducing paper use, is a part of Speaker Om Birla’s vision to modernize Parliament’s operations.
Four counters with the electronic tabs will be set up in the lobby of the Lok Sabha chamber. MPs are encouraged to use these devices to mark their attendance, although physical attendance registers will still be available.
To mark attendance, MPs will select their names from a menu, sign using the digital pen, and submit their presence electronically.
This step is a part of Parliament’s ongoing efforts to become more digital, with the goal of making operations more efficient and eco-friendly.
