Ajit Pawar’s NCP Backs Fadnavis for Maharashtra CM

MUMBAI: The Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has expressed its support for Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP to become Maharashtra’s Chief Minister. This follows the Mahayuti alliance’s resounding success in the recent state elections, where it secured 230 out of 288 seats, leaving the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) far behind.

While Shiv Sena members, led by Eknath Shinde, have advocated for Shinde to retain the CM post, discussions within the alliance are ongoing. Leaders have emphasized that the decision will be collaborative and aimed at ensuring stability and effective governance.

Ajit Pawar’s leadership within the NCP has been crucial in solidifying the Mahayuti alliance. Party insiders highlighted his proven track record as Deputy Chief Minister and his ability to deliver on governance, fueling speculation about his potential role in the new government.

Despite differing preferences within the alliance, all coalition members have pledged to prioritize Maharashtra’s development and maintain unity. A formal decision on the Chief Minister’s post is expected after detailed deliberations among BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP leaders.
