A college student from Chennai, Vaageesan V.V., has filed a ₹1.1 crore lawsuit against the makers of the film Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan. He claims that a scene in the film included a phone number similar to his own, which led to an overwhelming number of calls from strangers trying to contact actress Sai Pallavi. Despite reaching out to the film’s director and actor to address the issue, Vaageesan’s phone number continued to circulate widely on social media.
Vaageesan alleges that this mishap has caused significant distress and disruption to his daily life. The number of calls he received intensified after the movie’s release, and he claims the makers failed to take action to rectify the situation.
In the lawsuit, Vaageesan is seeking compensation for the emotional and practical difficulties caused by the misuse of his phone number. He also demands that the makers take down any instances where his number has been shared publicly.
The case brings to light concerns about privacy and the responsibility of filmmakers in ensuring that personal information is not inadvertently exposed in their productions. The lawsuit has drawn attention to the impact of social media and the rapid spread of information that can harm individuals unintentionally.
