MUMBAI: The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are closed today due to the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Trading in all segments, including equity, derivatives, and securities lending, is suspended for the day as voters head to the polls. This closure follows a long weekend, with markets already closed for Guru Nanak Jayanti and the regular weekend.
On November 19, the stock markets showed mixed performance. The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex rebounded, reversing previous losses, although concerns over escalating geopolitical tensions weighed on investor sentiment. The markets will reopen tomorrow for regular trading.
In 2024, the stock market will also be closed on Christmas Day, December 25. This November saw three additional holidays beyond the regular weekends, totaling 12 closed trading days.
