JAMUI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a series of development projects worth Rs 6,640 crore in Bihar’s Jamui district on Friday. The occasion marked the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas. During the event, the PM honored Munda’s legacy by unveiling a commemorative coin and postal stamp in his honor. He also participated virtually in the ‘Grih Pravesh’ of 11,000 houses built for tribal families under the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
The projects launched by the PM are aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and livelihood opportunities in tribal regions. As part of these initiatives, he inaugurated 23 mobile medical units (MMUs) under PM-JANMAN and 30 additional MMUs under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) to enhance healthcare accessibility in remote tribal areas. These efforts are expected to significantly improve medical care in underserved communities.
In addition to healthcare, Modi launched 10 Eklavya Model Residential Schools and 300 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to promote entrepreneurship and improve livelihoods. The PM also inaugurated two Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums in Chhindwara and Jabalpur, both in Madhya Pradesh, and two Tribal Research Institutes in Srinagar and Gangtok to document and preserve the history of tribal communities.
Further strengthening infrastructure, PM Modi laid the foundation stones for 500 km of new roads and 100 multi-purpose centers, which will serve as community hubs in tribal areas. Additionally, the PM laid the foundation for 25,000 new houses under PM-JANMAN, and 1.16 lakh houses under DAJGUA, along with 370 hostels for tribal students, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving the lives of tribal communities across India.
