    PM Modi Inaugurates AIIMS Darbhanga and Over ₹12,000 Crore of Development Projects in Bihar

    NEW DELHI: On November 12, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga, Bihar, as part of a major development initiative in the state. During his visit, he also inaugurated various projects worth over ₹12,000 crore, aiming to enhance infrastructure and healthcare in Bihar. The AIIMS project, which includes a super-specialty hospital, medical college, nursing college, and residential facilities, is expected to bring significant improvements to healthcare services in Bihar and surrounding regions, offering tertiary care to the population.

    In addition to healthcare, the Prime Minister launched several National Highway projects worth ₹5,070 crore to improve road infrastructure. Notably, the four-lane Galgalia-Araria section of NH-327E was inaugurated, which will connect Araria with West Bengal, enhancing regional connectivity. Eight other National Highway projects were also inaugurated, including roads linking Bihar to West Bengal and various bypasses aimed at easing traffic congestion.

    The Prime Minister also laid the foundation for railway projects worth over ₹1,740 crore, which include the Darbhanga Bypass Railway Line to alleviate congestion at Darbhanga Junction. Other projects like the doubling of the railway line between Jhanjharpur and Laukaha Bazar and the construction of the Sonenagar Bypass Railway line were also part of this initiative, aimed at boosting regional connectivity and transport efficiency.

    In the energy sector, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a City Gas Distribution network worth ₹4,020 crore, which will supply piped natural gas to households and provide clean energy to commercial and industrial sectors in five districts of Bihar. Additionally, a bitumen manufacturing unit at Barauni Refinery by Indian Oil Corporation was also announced, which will reduce the state’s reliance on imported bitumen. These projects are poised to drive Bihar’s economic growth and improve the living standards of its people.
