Thane: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticized Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray for his protest against the inspection of his bags by election officials ahead of the November 20 Maharashtra assembly elections. Fadnavis described Thackeray’s frustration as unwarranted, pointing out that such checks are standard procedure, and he himself had gone through similar checks during his campaign.
Fadnavis further accused Thackeray of “whining” to gain votes, suggesting that with no significant issues to address, Thackeray was focusing on trivial matters. Thackeray had posted a video of the incident on social media, claiming his bags were checked on his arrival in Latur district for campaigning.
Fadnavis also took aim at the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, highlighting their opposition to the Ladki Bahin Yojana, a government scheme offering financial assistance to women. He criticized the opposition for challenging the program in court.
Additionally, Fadnavis emphasized the achievements of the current government, particularly in the industrial sector. He pointed out that Maharashtra had surpassed Karnataka and Gujarat in securing industrial investments, attributing this success to the policies implemented under the present administration.
