Trump Taps Musk to Lead ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ with Ramaswamy

New Delhi: U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk will head the newly established ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ (DOGE), with entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy as co-leader.

“These two outstanding Americans will drive my administration’s mission to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulations, eliminate wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies — essential to the ‘Save America’ movement,” Trump said in a statement.

    Elon Musk’s Reaction
Following Trump’s announcement, Musk responded on social media, writing, “Department of Government Efficiency. The merch will be🔥.” In another post, he added, “Threat to democracy? Nope, threat to BUREAUCRACY!!!”

Trump had previously shared plans to appoint a “secretary of cost-cutting” during an interview with Fox News in October, where he hinted at Musk’s potential role. He stated that he would defer to Musk in shutting down various agencies to streamline the government.

“I’m going to have Elon Musk — he is eager to do this. He’s an incredible business mind. You usually think of him for science and rockets, and he’s constantly innovating — like developing a new titanium screw,” Trump said. “But he’s also a great cost-cutter. He told me he could reduce costs without impacting anyone.”
