In Pilibhit, BJP MLA Baburam Paswan’s distant cousin, Phoolchand, was allegedly beaten to death by a group of attackers late on Saturday evening, according to the police. The incident began when the assailants attacked the house, pelting stones and attempting to drag away Phoolchand’s minor granddaughter.
During the assault, family members, including the 70-year-old Phoolchand, were attacked. Phoolchand, along with eight other injured individuals, was taken to the Puranpur Community Health Centre. Unfortunately, Phoolchand succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Pilibhit Superintendent of Police Avinash Pandey stated that Phoolchand died in a clash in Udrah village, within the Ghungchai Police Station’s jurisdiction. Based on the family’s complaint, a murder case has been filed against five individuals. The police have already arrested two suspects, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
To maintain order, CO Puranpur Vishal Chaudhary informed the media that additional police forces have been deployed in the village to control any escalating tension following the incident.
