In Patna, the Bihar government has made extensive preparations for the third day of Chhath Puja, with millions expected to offer arghya (prayers) to the setting sun on Thursday. Elaborate security measures are in place across more than 100 ghats along the Ganga and other water bodies to ensure safety during this revered festival. Medical camps and arrangements at ponds and major parks like Eco Park and Veer Kunwar Singh Park have been set up.
Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh confirmed readiness across all major ghats, including Banshi Ghat and Krishna Ghat, emphasizing that advisories have been issued for smooth observance. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with officials, conducted inspections to review safety and preparation measures.
The four-day festival, which began with the Nahai Khai ritual on November 5, involves offerings to Chhathi Maiya and the sun god for family prosperity. The festival concludes on Friday morning with a second arghya to the rising sun. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and NDRF teams have also been stationed at key locations to manage the crowd.
