Chandrababu Inaugurates GIS Power Substation:
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the state’s first GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) power substation at Thallayapalem, constructed at a cost of ₹505 crore, with a capacity of 400/220 kV. This substation will provide uninterrupted power supply to the capital region of Amaravati, which until now was relying on the Tadikonda center for electricity.
Alongside the GIS substation, Chandrababu virtually inaugurated five other substations in various locations across the state. In total, the Chief Minister performed the foundation ceremonies for 14 substations and associated power lines. These new substations have been set up by AP Transco as part of efforts to strengthen the power infrastructure across Andhra Pradesh.
In addition, at an estimated cost of ₹5,407 crore, new substations and lines with capacities of 132/33 kV, 220/132 kV, and 400/220 kV will be established in the districts of NTR, Guntur, Chittoor, Nandyal, Sri Sathya Sai, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Krishna, Prakasam, Tirupati, and Kadapa.
Given the anticipated increase in demand, power companies are focusing on enhancing the power infrastructure to meet this growing need. The initiative aims to provide reliable, high-quality, 24×7 power, which will be crucial in supporting Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth. Ensuring uninterrupted power supply will also play a key role in facilitating industrial development and attracting more industries to the state.
