NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Thursday that implementing the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP) scheme for veterans was a significant step in reaffirming the nation’s gratitude to its heroes.
In a post on X, he noted that the scheme, which was a promise made by the BJP before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, was implemented on this day. After coming to power, Modi prioritized the rollout of the plan to address a major grievance of retired defense personnel.
He expressed that this initiative was a tribute to the courage and sacrifices of veterans and ex-service personnel who dedicate their lives to protecting the nation.
The decision to implement OROP marked a meaningful step toward addressing this long-standing demand and highlighted the nation’s gratitude toward its heroes.
