New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences on Friday following the death of Dr. Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. Dr. Debroy, a respected scholar and economist, was well-known for his deep knowledge of economics, history, culture, and ancient Indian texts.
In a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his sorrow and highlighted Dr. Debroy’s contributions to Indian scholarship. He said, “Dr. Bibek Debroy Ji was a towering scholar, well-versed in diverse domains like economics, history, culture, politics, spirituality, and more. Through his works, he left an indelible mark on India’s intellectual landscape. Beyond his contributions to public policy, he enjoyed working on our ancient texts, making them accessible to the youth.” Reflecting on their years of acquaintance, PM Modi added, “I have known Dr. Debroy for many years. I will fondly remember his insights and passion for academic discourse. I am saddened by his passing. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.”
