    Security Forces Eliminate Three Terrorists in Ongoing Anti-Terror Operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor

    Security forces have neutralized another terrorist during an ongoing anti-terror operation in the Akhnoor area of Jammu and Kashmir, launched to trace militants holed up in the region. Earlier, another terrorist, who had been hiding in a village in the Akhnoor sector, was also eliminated. So far, three terrorists have been killed in the operation.

    One of the three terrorists, responsible for firing at an army ambulance that was part of a convoy near the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday morning, was killed by evening in a coordinated operation involving special forces and NSG commandos. The third terrorist was reportedly hiding in the forested area near the Assan Temple in Jogwan village.

    Following a night of calm, security forces resumed the operation around 7 a.m. in the Bhattal area of Khour, sparking a fresh gunfight. According to officials, a series of loud explosions and intense firing ensued for over an hour before the second terrorist was neutralized. Sporadic gunfire with the third trapped militant continued intermittently.

    Indian Army Issues First Statement on ‘Operation Asan’

    The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps issued a statement regarding the Akhnoor anti-terror operation, dubbed ‘Operation Asan.’ In a post on X, the White Knight Corps stated, “After round-the-clock surveillance throughout the night, an intense firefight unfolded this morning, leading to a significant victory for our forces. Relentless operations and tactical excellence have resulted in the elimination of three terrorists. War-like stores were also recovered during the operation, marking a critical step in maintaining security in the region.”

    Tragically, a four-year-old Army dog, Phantom, lost its life after being hit by a bullet during the operation.

    In a first, the Army deployed four BMP-II infantry combat vehicles for enhanced surveillance and cordoning off the attack site, along with helicopters and drones to locate the remaining terrorists.
