Reliance Industries chairman and Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani called for a Jio-like revolution to make artificial intelligence more affordable and available to the masses. Speaking at the Nvidia AI Summit 2024 with Nvidia’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, Jensen Huang, Ambani said, “For India and Indians, we have to repeat the Jio for the intelligence to be really affordable, available to the common people.” He added that the onus of setting up the infrastructure for “good quality AI” is on him and Huang, referring to the partnership announced last year for a joint effort to build India’s own foundation large language model.
“It is important that we design and build infrastructure so that to use AI, our customers don’t have to change a phone, don’t have to change their computers, but they can still get good quality AI. We take the burden of putting that infrastructure together,” said Ambani at the fireside chat with Huang at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre.
