Cyclone Alert: Low Pressure in the Bay of Bengal, Heavy Rain Forecast
A surface trough is expected to form over the northern Andaman region in the Bay of Bengal on Sunday (October 20). Due to its influence, a low-pressure system is likely to develop in the Bay of Bengal by October 22, according to the Amaravati Meteorological Department. It further stated that this low-pressure system could move northwestward and strengthen into a depression by October 24. Weather experts predict that this depression might make landfall between Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. They mentioned that a clearer picture will emerge once the low-pressure system forms in the Bay of Bengal.
The Amaravati Meteorological Center indicated that due to the low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the northern coastal districts after October 24. The Meteorological Department also reported that light to moderate rains are expected across the state on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday (October 18), light to moderate rainfall was recorded in the districts of Tirupati, Sri Sathya Sai, Chittoor, Eluru, Guntur, YSR, Annamayya, Srikakulam, and others.
