AP Rains: Heavy Rains in Several Districts of Andhra Pradesh Due to Cyclone
Due to the impact of the cyclone, heavy rains are falling in several districts of Andhra Pradesh. Along with Rayalaseema districts, normal life has been disrupted in various places in the united Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, East Godavari, and Visakhapatnam districts. Huge waves are crashing along the coastlines of Visakhapatnam and Kakinada. At R.K. Beach in Visakhapatnam, waves are hitting the shops. In the Pedaganjyadi Mandal of Kongapalem, a person’s injuries were reported after a thatched shed collapsed due to the rain.
In the Uppada coast of U. Kothapalli Mandal in Kakinada district, the sea is turbulent, with massive waves crashing. Trees, electric poles, and houses have collapsed. The sea has turned chaotic at the Antarvedi coast. Huge waves are crashing at the Godavari confluence. In Pallipalem, waves have inundated houses and beach roads. At Odalarevu beach in Allavaram Mandal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, waves are surging fiercely. The sea water has reached the ONGC plant, and aqua ponds have been flooded with seawater.
Cyclone Crosses the Coast Near Thada:
The Meteorological Department has announced that the cyclone has crossed the coast near Thada in Tirupati district. It has been moving at a speed of 22 km/h for the past six hours and has touched the coastline. Currently, the cyclone has weakened into a depression. As a result, heavy rains are falling in several coastal and Rayalaseema districts of Andhra Pradesh, as well as in northern Tamil Nadu.
Floods Reaching Water Bodies:
The Chitravati River is flowing vigorously near Veldurthi in Sri Satya Sai district. Due to this, transportation to Veldurthi and Ganginapalli hamlets, as well as to the villages of Erronipalli, Brahmanapalli, and Chinnappa Reddipalli, has been disrupted. In YSR district, floods are reaching the Gandikota and Maailavaram water bodies. The Chitravati balancing reservoir has become completely filled due to the inflow of heavy floods. Floodwaters are also reaching the Paidipalem, Vamikonda, and Sarvaraya Sagar water bodies.
In the outskirts of Nellore city, water has accumulated on roads in Autonagar, Chandrababu Nagar, Talpagiri Colony, Jonnavada Road, and Poltapalem Kaluj. In the united Ananthapur district, crops were damaged due to rain on Wednesday night. The rain has affected dried corn and groundnut crops, causing losses to farmers. In several areas, paddy fields have been submerged.
CM Chandrababu’s Review:
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting with collectors and officials from various departments regarding the heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh. The collectors from Prakasam, Nellore, and Chittoor districts provided details about the current situation, informing the Chief Minister that rains have occurred in the united Nellore and Chittoor districts. The CM advised officials to remain vigilant regarding the water flows in irrigation projects and to monitor the conditions of tanks and streams closely. Officials explained the water flow and management measures in irrigation projects to the Chief Minister.
Severe Impact on Uppada Coast:
The effects of the cyclone are evident on the Uppada coast in U. Kothapalli Mandal of Kakinada district. The sea has turned chaotic over the past 24 hours, with huge waves crashing rapidly onto the villages. Due to the waves, trees, electric poles, and houses have collapsed. The impact of the waves has been severe in the villages of Uppada, Subbampet, Mayapatnam, and Jaggaraajupet. Roads have been damaged and submerged under the sea. Those who have lost their homes have reached nearby shelters with their belongings. Coastal residents are lamenting that officials are not paying attention to the chaos caused by the sea. They expressed their distress over being without electricity and food since the night, living in fear, and highlighted that they have not been evacuated to safer areas at all.
