BREAKING: Nayab Singh Saini Likely to Take Oath as Haryana CM On October 15

Chandigarh: The swearing in ceremony for the new government is scheduled for October 15, with Nayab Singh Saini expected to take the oath as Chief Minister following the recent legislative assembly elections, according to sources.

A 10-member committee, chaired by the Panchkula District Deputy Commissioner, has been formed to oversee the swearing-in ceremony. This committee was established by the Chief Secretary to ensure smooth preparations for the event.

The 2024 Haryana Legislative Assembly elections were held on October 5, 2024, to elect all 90 members of the assembly. The ballots were counted, and the results were declared on October 8, 2024. The BJP secured 48 more seats than in the 2019 elections, crossing the majority mark, while the Congress managed to win only 37 seats.

Saini had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders in Delhi on Wednesday ahead of his likely swearing-in as the head of the new dispensation in the state following the party’s win in the assembly polls.

The BJP had indicated during the elections that Saini, who replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as chief minister in March and hails from the Other Backward Classes, will be its choice for the top post if it wins.

The party ended up with its best-ever haul of 48 seats, 11 more than the Congress . The JJP and the AAP were decimated and the INLD managed to win just two seats.
