Kolkata: Amid outrage over RG Kar horror, another horrific incident of rape and murder has come to light in West Bengal. According to sources, a woman was allegedly raped and killed in the Purba Medinipur district on Saturday. Media reports suggest the victim was reportedly taken from her house in Patashpur by her neighbour.
Reports further claimed that the neighbour allegedly raped her at his house, then forced her to consume poison and left her outside. Thereafter, she was spotted by locals who rescued her in critical condition and rushed her to the hospital.
Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries during treatment. A complaint was lodged against two villagers in connection with the incident.
Rape Accused Lynched by Angry Villagers
Furious over woman’s death, angry villagers dragged the man out of his house and thrashed him brutally. After receiving information about mob violence, police rescued the man and took him to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
The outburst of public anger occurred just a day after villagers in Joynagar, South 24 Parganas district, set on fire a police outpost and assaulted the personnel, whom they accused of not taking appropriated action on the complaint of the father of a nine-year-old girl who was found dead on Saturday.
