
New Delhi, May 23, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu met with Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, to request rooftop solar capacity allocation for the state under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. During the meeting, Naidu emphasized Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious clean energy targets, which include installing free rooftop solar panels for 20 lakh SC/ST households and providing subsidized access for BC communities.
The state also plans to implement 10,000 rooftop solar units in each Assembly constituency, reflecting a bold step toward reducing energy costs and expanding renewable energy access. Naidu highlighted that with the Centre’s backing, Andhra Pradesh can become a frontrunner in India’s clean energy transition, empowering marginalized communities while promoting sustainability.
