Sukma, May 23, 2025 – A Naxalite was killed in an encounter with security forces in the dense forests of Sukma district, a region often marred by insurgent activity. The gunfight took place during a joint combing operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), aimed at flushing out Naxal elements operating in the area. Upon spotting armed militants, the forces engaged them, leading to a fierce exchange of fire.
After the encounter, security personnel recovered the body of a male Naxalite along with arms and ammunition. According to police officials, the operation was based on specific intelligence inputs about the movement of Naxal cadres in the region. The area has since been cordoned off and a search operation is underway to trace any other possible insurgents. Authorities stated that such efforts would continue to ensure lasting peace and security in the conflict-prone district.
