New Delhi, May 23, 2025 – President Droupadi Murmu posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra to Captain Deepak Singh in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, honoring his supreme bravery during a counter-insurgency operation. Serving in the Indian Army’s Medical Corps, Captain Singh lost his life while evacuating injured soldiers under intense enemy fire. His family received the award in a moving tribute to his selfless service.
President Murmu praised Captain Singh’s heroism as a shining example of the armed forces’ highest values. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, CDS General Anil Chauhan, and senior military officials attended the event, saluting the young officer’s sacrifice. The ceremony underscored the nation’s deep respect for its soldiers who lay down their lives in the line of duty.
