Visakhapatnam, May 19, 2025 – The Deputy Mayor election of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) was postponed to Tuesday due to a lack of quorum, as only 7 out of 20 corporators were present. Jana Sena Party nominated Dalli Govind as its official candidate, and his name was submitted in a sealed cover on Monday.
Across Andhra Pradesh, several local body elections witnessed delays or tense situations. The Tiruvuru Nagar Panchayat chairperson election in NTR district was also postponed due to low attendance, with clashes reported between TDP and YSRCP members. In Vizianagaram, the TDP alliance secured Bobbili Municipality, electing Sarath Babu unopposed. In Sri Sathya Sai district, Ramagiri MPP election was delayed for the third time due to lack of quorum. The TDP also gained control of Kadiri Municipality and Narasaraopet mandal, electing their candidates unopposed.
